Fibergrate FRP has a high strength-to-weight ratio when compared to traditional materials like metal, concrete and wood. FRP gratings can even be strong enough to carry vehicular loads while weighing less than steel gratings.
Molded gratings are available in a variety of stock panel sizes (i.e. 3′ x 10′, 4′ x 8′, 5′ x 10′, and 4′ x 12′ for 1-1/2″ deep, 1-1/2″ square mesh gratings). The designer should consider these sizes at the early stages of structure layout to efficiently utilize the material and minimize installation costs.
FRP can last a very long time due to its corrosion resistance and UV stability. So, one can expect FRP products to last at least 20-25 years.
